A hands-on workshop on the subtle art of clawhammer banjo, covering tunings, variations, or other topics as desired. The level will be determined by the attendees - bring your instrument and questions.

David Brown began playing five string banjo at the age of seventeen. Inspired by Pete Seeger, he started out using the banjo for song accompaniment, but listening to Doc Watson, New Lost City Ramblers, the Highwoods Stringband and others drove him deep into the world of fiddle tunes a few years later. He can be heard playing for contra and square dances with "Uncle Dave" (, and in numerous jams around town.
