Family Area (Room 101) 12:00-1:00

People of all ages are invited to come and share a song, sing along, listen and play. This workshop is facilitated by Bonnie Lockhart and members of The Children’s Music Network, a national organization celebrating the positive power of music in the lives of children.

Bonnie Lockhart is a Northern California singer/songwriter who brings a love of diverse folk traditions to her forty-year practice of  participatory, community-building music.  She is a performer, composer, educator, recording artist, and activist who believes in the transformative power of music in the lives of both individuals and communities.

The Children's Music Network celebrates the positive power of music in the lives of children by sharing songs, exchanging ideas and creating community.  CMN members are full-time and part-time performers, songwriters, classroom teachers, music educators, librarians, storytellers, record producers, distributors, broadcasters, parents, grandparents, and children who sing, share, teach, write, play, perform, produce and enjoy children's music. CMN is diverse in age, ethnicity, gender, religion, sexual orientation, and culture, and welcomes all musical styles.  We recognize children's music as a powerful means of encouraging cooperation, celebrating diversity, building self-esteem, promoting respect and responsibility for our environment, and cultivating an understanding of nonviolence and social justice.  Join us at the CMN international conference in Los Gatos, October 14 – 16, 2016.
