Ukulele Jam

Janet Lenore

Music Four 2:00-3:00

Janet LenoreBring your ukulele and have fun playing those songs “that everybody knows.” Because this is the San Francisco Free Folk Festival, the song list will include some San Francisco-based songs, some songs from the “Great Folk Scare” as well as pop tunes new and old. We’ll use the terms “pop” “folk” and “rock” rather loosely to play just a bunch of feel-good tunes. Song sheets with words and chords will be available for use during the jam, borrowed from the Alameda Ukulele Jam group. Bring multiple copies of a song if you would like to lead one yourself. It would be good to bring a tuner and a music stand in addition to your ukulele.

Before she was out of high school, Janet Lenore was a guitar teacher, performing songwriter, and a multi-instrumentalist. Much much later, Janet again embraced her love of making and sharing music. She has been teaching ukulele and guitar to adults and children in classes and private lessons for the past four years. Last year, Janet taught guitar and ukulele at the Puget Sound Guitar Workshop as well as ukulele workshops at the Napa Valley Ukulele Festival. She has taught and performed at the Santa Cruz Ukulele Club, "Burning Uke," the San Francisco Free Folk Festival, and three "Ukes On the Loose" events. She has led or co-led large ukulele jams at the Kate Wolf Music Festival, Berkeley Ukulele Club, Bronco Billy's Fremont Ukulele jam, and the Alameda Ukulele Club. Janet has served on the Board of Directors for the California Coast Music Camp for twelve years and annually manages an acoustic stage at the Palo Alto Festival of the Arts. Well known for her quirky and humorous original songs, Janet released her ukulele-centric CD, "Pie & Four Other Tasty Treats," in 2014. Her home and music teaching practice is in the East Bay.
