Update as of May 10, 2020:  the Free Festival leadership team has decided that we will not be able to have an in-person festival in 2020 due to the coronavirus situation.  We will try to put together some kind of online alternative to our 2020 Festival – we’re still in the process of working out the details of that. We will soon be contacting our performers and workshop leaders to let them know about the cancellation and to work with them on an online plan.

The 44th annual San Francisco Free Folk Festival is scheduled for Saturday June 13, 2020.  The festival will be a full day of music, dance, and storytelling workshops and concerts, crafts, vendors, and fun for the whole family – see our video!

Thanks to everyone who applied to perform or lead workshops at the 2020 festival!  We’ll be making decisions in March.  The application deadline was on February 25.  The application form is still up , but be aware that applications submitted after the deadline may not be considered.

All ages and musical interests are welcome at the festival. All events and workshops are open to anyone who wants to participate or just listen. Admission to everything is free!

Last year’s program is still online at sffolkfest.org/program-2019.  Thanks to everyone who helped out!

We rely on donations and sponsors to cover the cost of renting the facility and other expenses. All the performers and workshop leaders donate their time and talent. Many of them are members of the San Francisco Folk Music Club.

Since everyone involved is a volunteer, we can always use more help! See the volunteer page for more information.

The festival is run by the San Francisco Folk Music Club, a non-profit organization that was founded in 1948 and is still going strong. Membership is open to everyone.
