With dance caller, Claire Takemori

A variety of kid-friendly, easy & fun, Americana folk dances for all ages will be taught and then called by Claire Takemori. Live fiddle music by Craig Johnson (piano/accordion) and friends will have you stepping lively with Claire’s instruction and calling. No experience or partner needed. All ages are welcome. Babies and toddlers should be worn in a carrier. Children under 8 years can dance as “one” with a parent/adult. Bring water & wear comfortable clothes and shoes.

Claire is passionate about sharing the JOY of folk music & dancing with kids and families. She is known for clear & fun teaching. She is an accomplished dancer and has infectious smiles when dancing. She is learning to play fiddle and is the organizer for the new South Bay Contra Dance on 3rd Sunday afternoons in San Jose. (www.bacds.org/sbc)

Craig Johnson plays piano and accordion for English country, contra dance, historical dance, and morris and longsword teams, and played lots of Irish music a few decades ago. Once with contra dance bands The Guppies and Fear of Commitment, his main band now is Bangers and Mash (the Fezziwig’s Warehouse party band at Dickens Fair). He has also programmed the SF English dance for more than two decades, and served as programmer of BACDS Family Week for the past three years.
