This workshop will feature easy songs for the continuing beginning student who can already tune and play basic strums on the autoharp. Tina Louise Barr will show you how a few simple chords can be played with a variety of music.
REQUIRED: Good playable condition TUNED autoharp with no rusty strings, a thumbpick, two fingerpicks, tuning wrench, chromatic electronic tuner.
OPTIONAL: Music stand, small folding table.
Tina Louise Barr is a virtuoso performer on the autoharp, a multi-stringed American instrument. From the central valley of California, Tina Louise is acclaimed for her concise melody picking and dynamic performances. Her amazing versatility on the autoharp has won recognition in her field. She performs solo and with her band Hot Wire, as well as with the Brookdale Bluegrass Band. Tina Louise Barr has performed as a guest artist with autoharp legend Bryan Bowers, the Black Irish Band, and with country troubadour Michael Martin Murphey.
She has also been a featured performer at numerous music festivals, including the Mountain Laurel Autoharp Gathering, the Willamette Valley Autoharp Gathering in Oregon, the Glendale Arizona Folk & Heritage Festival, and the CTMS Festival in southern California. She is a recipient of the Modesto Area Music Association (MAMA) Award, and of the California Bluegrass Association Service Award. Tina Louise Barr is a charter staff member, performer, and instructor of the California Autoharp Gathering and is a recipient of the California Autoharp Gathering Lifetime Achievement Award. She serves as a staff member of the international music publication Autoharp Quarterly.
