Fake Traditional Songs (2018 program)

Mary Hill
Music 2 – Rm 217 / 1:00 PM - 2:00 PM

What it says on the tin. A swap of traditional-sounding yet relatively modern songs, with an author, written within the last 100 years. This workshop is all about exploring how folk music continues to evolve, change, and influence more current artists. (Such as The Mountain Goats, The Decemberists, Edie Bricknell, Rilo Kiley, & beyond.)

Mary Hill grew up in the Bay Area folk music society, and is glad she grew up with the belief that everyone everywhere sings and harmonizes for fun. She loves to explore the meaning of ‘folk music’ and how it continues to evolve. She is a current board member of the San Francisco Folk Music Club.
