Mark & Cindy Lemaire (2018 program)

Americana
Faith Petric Stage – Auditorium / 1:30 - 2:00

“Complex, sophisticated song arrangements. His guitar playing is so good, it might distract you from his compelling, engaging melodies and sharp songwriting… but only for a second.”
-Richard Rice, Director, San Francisco Free Folk Festival

Mark Lemaire’s unique guitar style incorporates fingerpicking, slap-and-tap harmonics, and a delicate touch that goes straight to your heart. The solo guitar pieces are complete statements, and Mark’s harmonies with Cindy Lemaire are so perfectly matched that they seem like two people with one voice. With four albums released and an exemplary stage presence, Mark and Cindy are a pleasure to listen to and fun to just be with.

Mark’s music is informed by his years as a recording engineer and producer for everyone from the San Francisco Symphony to Rolling Stones’ producer Jimmy Miller. This year, Mark and Cindy tour the US, Scotland and England, Canada, and New Zealand, where they are featured artists at the Canterbury Folk Festival.

“Mark’s pick work is impressive, though it would be an injustice to count his lyricism second– he borrows from a range of inspiration to create his own sound. The result is an Americana-folk hybrid with hints of classical…. After years touring the U.S. and Europe, Mark and Cindy Lemaire are in sync.”
