A swap of traditional-sounding yet relatively modern songs (with an author, that were written within the last 100 years). This workshop/swap is all about exploring how folk music continues to evolve, change, and influence more current artists. (Such as The Carolina Chocolate Drops, Mumford & Sons, The Decemberists, Edie Bricknell, Digging Roots, Sweet Honey in the Rock, & beyond!)
Mary Hill grew up in the Bay Area folk music society, and is glad she grew up with the belief that everyone everywhere sings and harmonizes for fun. She loves to explore the meaning of ‘folk music’ and how it continues to evolve. She is a current board member of the San Francisco Folk Music Club.
