Introduction to Hawaiian Strums (2019 program)

Workshop participants will be introduced to three or four common and popular Hawaiian strums and will have the opportunity to play those strums on two Hawaiian mele (songs) to learn how the strum shapes the feeling of the song.

Mark Segelman has been playing ukulele and Hawaiian music for 10 years. He has performed with the Kapalakiko Hawaiian Music Workshop Band and with Na Hoaloha, the performance arm of the ukulele class at the Japantown Cultural and Community Center.
