The California Fandango Project was founded by Lance Beeson, who is a descendant of multiple founding families of Hispanic California, who came during the years of 1769 to 1781 with military and civilian expeditions and voyages. The eight-member group Los Arribeños de San Francisco (a performing unit of the CFP) embraces vocal, instrumental and dance music of the era, spanning the years 1776-1848 and includes dance-caller, well-known local actor, and musician Jim Letchworth.
