Seemore Love

Afro-folk/Afro-futurism

A special performance for our 2021 online festival! Watch the performance anytime on festival day by returning to this page.

Seemore Love performs traditional Afro-folk music of the Americas seamlessly transporting the listener to the acoustic landscape of Afro-futurism.

Carlton Dorsey is an African American folk artist, multi-genre, multi-instrumentalist, composer, producer, singer-songwriter, educator, and an individual of indigenous-diasporic origins, known on stages across the U.S. as Seemore Love (Dr. See).  They recently received praise from the Smithsonian Folk Institute, for their work with community, land, solidarity, education, reclamation and justice, through the Black Banjo Reclamation Project.

Noted as a musician’s musician for his awe-inspiring ability to improvise flawlessly and seamlessly across an impressively expansive array of instruments to any musical style. Love has performed and shared stages with Grammy award winners, and music hall of famers from around the world.

Love uniquely blends the past present sounds of ancestral knowledge and wisdom with the current age of sound technology, and the spiritual gusto of Afro-futurism to create a truly sincere and one-of-a-kind sound experience.

When not performing, Love can be found, creating, co-creating, facilitating, teaching workshops/masterclasses, and other community programs in the subjects of education, community development, martial arts, land stewarding, language, history, health, farming, and more with the intentions of improving the individual and collective strength of communities while growing a national network of care through action.
