Dunsmuir Scottish Dancers will perform a wide variety of Scottish dancing, including lively reels, jigs, elegant strathspeys, ladies’ step dancing, Cape Breton hardshoe, and highland, all dating from the 17th century to modern times, in period costumes with live music.
Dunsmuir Scottish Dancers, a performance group from the greater San Francisco bay area, was founded to explore and share the spirit and traditions of Scottish dance and music. Our period costumes and musical stylings reflect four centuries of dance, from the earliest roots of ceilidh dance, through the elegance of 18th century ballrooms, to the technically challenging dances of modern times. Highland dancers of the Dunsmuir troupe have competed and won awards in America, Canada, and Scotland. Our musicians have performed throughout the United States.
