Storytelling events are presented by the Storytelling Association of California (SAC).
It is SAC’s mission to promote storytelling across the entire state, so this year we are featuring back to back panels of tellers from northern and southern California. In fact, every year SAC honors a performer with the Regional Gem Award, which alternates between a teller from southern California and northern California. This year’s Regional Gem went to Joy Swift, who is based right here in the Bay Area.
For the 2022 San Francisco Free Folk Festival, Brandon has reached out to tellers from around the Bay Area and the Sacramento Valley to come up with a great lineup of northern California tellers to represent this half of the state. These tellers include several professional as well as a few community-based performers, and they range in repertoire from traditional to personal, “Moth-style” performances. We hope you enjoy this tour of our state through storytelling in this panel and the one that immediately follows!
