Wayfaring Strangers re-interpret traditional American and contemporary folk songs, bringing to light lesser-known tunes, and adding world music to spice up their sets. Kate’s vocals are powerful and earthy, the band’s harmonies are haunting, and the instrumental arrangements are intricate and moving.

Wayfaring Strangers are Kate Brubeck (vocals), Allen Samelson (guitar, mandolin), Dave Fischer (bass), and Todd Silverstein (bouzouki, pennywhistle, sax), all stalwarts of the Bay Area folk music scene. Given limited options for travel during the pandemic, the group has whiled away their time exploring new musical horizons, and has chosen the SF Free Folk Festival as their first public performance.
