La Peña Community Chorus is happy and honored once again to sing and play at the Free Folk Festival. Power to the people!
Thirty singers and players accompany themselves on strings, flutes, drums and accordion; we sing poetic and topical songs in Spanish from the Nueva Canción tradition of Latin America.
In 2025, La Peña Community Chorus celebrates their 46th year singing songs of peace and social justice at demonstrations, and at benefits for farm-workers, food pantries and labor groups. We have sung at schools, in picket lines supporting striking teachers, in churches, as well as for residents of retirement centers, and people in homeless shelters. Our repertoire is largely in Spanish from the beautiful and poetic Nueva Canción tradition of Latin America. We are happy again to be part of this important gift the San Francisco Folk Music Club gives to San Francisco and the Bay Area!
