In difficult times, art can help us through. Come join an old-time fiddle workshop for beginning and intermediate players. We will learn a fiddle tune, discuss the challenges of being a fiddler in an old time jam and practice some tune chasing techniques. This is a learning by doing session, so bring your fiddles and an open mind.
Lael started playing the violin at age 4 and describes herself as a recovering classical musician. She’s been exploring fiddle and voice for the past 13 years after taking a Southern Harmony singing class at the Freight and Salvage in Berkeley. To further her learning, she started annual sojourns to North Carolina to expand her understanding of the music and culture. Her inspiration for becoming a second fiddler came after taking a fantastic class at Swannanoa from Tricia Spencer. Seconding has become a passion and a new way to appreciate the fiddle and the old-time tradition.
