Treble by the Bay is a Celtic music and dance group based in the greater San Francisco Bay Area. They perform a broad selection of Irish, Scottish, and Canadian styles, linking historical traditions to modern choreography. Their members have a wide range of music, song, dance, and theatre training, and are brought together by their love of making music and dancing together and the joy of sharing these living traditions with an audience.
Treble by the Bay perform contemporary Irish step dance, and connect that modern style to its historical roots in sean-nós and old-style step dance, traditions that come from all across Ireland– Donegal, Clare, Connemara, and more. They also perform Highland and other Scottish dance styles, and showcase how all these Celtic traditions are connected and have transformed as they’ve moved from one region to another, including how they’re found in North America today.
