Money in Song (2018 program)

Marlene McCall
Music 1 – Rm 215 / 4:00 PM - 5:00 PM

Marlene leads a song swap on money — songs that describe the lives of the rich or the poor, bank robbers or highwaymen or clever women who rob money from sailors, lovers who are willing to buy anything for their sweethearts, friends who desert you when your money’s gone, doomed lovers from the wrong side of the tracks, the troubles of the Great Depression and the joys of its passing. Even the Rolling Stones telling us “You know the best things in life are free, but you can give them to the birds and bees. I want MONEY.” And, of course, morality tales about money itself — what will happen to you, in this life or next, if you value riches too dearly. Any genre, any style, sing a cappella or accompany yourself instrumentally.
