Peter Kasin and Richard Adrianowicz sing chanteys, the work songs of seafaring, rowing, longshoring, and net-hauling. You are encouraged to sing along on the choruses to these call-and-response work songs.
Peter and Richard teamed up in 2002 to sing sea chanteys and other types of maritime songs. Peter grew up in Berkeley, CA, first listening to folk music at age 3 when his parents bought him Young Peoples and Folkways records. He began singing chanteys in 1989 after attending his first chantey sing at Hyde Street Pier, and after his friends Allan Macleod and Dick Holdstock urged him to sing.
Richard grew up in Chicago and settled in San Francisco in the late 1970s after living in Los Angeles in the early 70s. He has sung and performed in several groups and is a resident singer at the SF chantey sings in the Maritime Museum.
Together, Peter and Richard recorded four albums of sea music and have performed at the sea music festivals on the west and east coasts. Richard has performed solo at the Chicago Maritime Festival, and Peter solo at the Captain Cook Maritime Music Festival inn Yorkshire, England.
